Baptism of the Spirit Course Description
The Apostle Paul said, “For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.” This course will delve into the Biblical and C&MA materials that teach of the baptism/infilling of the Holy Spirit. Students will examine various traditions of what this term means, and develop a comprehensive understanding of how to receive, live within, and teach on Spirit baptism. Students will develop a theology of Word and Spirit through combining exegetical scholarship with C&MA history, devotional prayer, and journaling. A framework for discernment will be developed and practiced in the classroom setting, with a goal that being Spirit-led in communal decision-making becomes a part of their leadership culture.
